212 Marshall St

212 Marshall Street was purchased in 2018 along with its twin after both had been vacant and on the market for several years. Unfortunately, we lost its twin (210 Marshall) in the May 2019 tornado, but we were able to save 212 Marshall and it was the only building we were able to save of the ones we owned at the time of the tornado.

This house was built in 1900, we believe it was originally built as a duplex. What is unique about this duplex is that each apartment has its own basement, although to make the apartments more functional, we had to remove the interior access to their own basement, we still kept them to each side, with only outdoor access. Everything was completely redone, new roof with rafters, electric, plumbing, HVAC, windows. We were able to refinish the original floors and front doors and we redid the boarded over transom windows. We reconfigured the floorplan as access to the 2nd bedroom and bathroom was through the front bedroom. To make it more accessible we closed off that access and created a hallway off the kitchen lunch bar. We also put in laundry for each apartment as well as enlarging the bathroom for better functionality.
